LED Lighting Upgrade for Education Facility
Port Hacking High School is one of the largest secondary comprehensive schools in the Sutherland District of New South Wales.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
The School was looking for a solution to reduce their energy consumption and operating costs while maintaining a uniform and low-glare illumination to facilitate a healthy and safe learning environment in accordance with the Education Facilities Standard and Guidelines.
Some areas in the School required specific lighting requirements such as the Gymnasium, where luminaires often become targets for balls and classrooms with ceiling fans where lights must be fitted with enough clearance. Moreover, the project must be designed for efficiency and ease of maintenance and cleaning with a minimal amount of patching or painting.
OUR SOLUTION
The Green Guys Group conducted a comprehensive lighting audit and provided a suitable LED lighting solution to meet all the relevant standards. 1,350 fluorescent lights were replaced with energy-efficient LED lights. Specific high-impact lights with impact-resistant diffusers were installed for the Gymnasium, while ultra-low-glare panels and battens were used in the classrooms. The School saved more than $27,000 on the total cost of the upgrade through the Energy Savings Scheme. We successfully delivered the project within strict time frames specified, with zero impact on the daily learning activities.
